Weekly Schedule

  • You are invited to join the Heartland Community of Mindful Living for evenings of mindfulness every Monday at Unity Temple on the Plaza, 707 W 47th Street, Kansas City, MO. Our gatherings are open to the public. Newcomers welcome!

    Silent Meditation - every Monday, 7 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. in Classroom C. Please enter quietly if you arrive during the meditation period.

    Weekly Gatherings - every Monday, 7:45 p.m. - 8:50 p.m. in Classroom C. Our schedule rotates as follows:

    • First Monday - The Five Mindfulness Trainings Recitation Ceremony followed by a dharma discussion. All are welcome to enjoy this ritual affirming our practice of mindfulness.

    • Second Monday - Thây on Tape: a video or audio presentation by Zen Master Thích Nhât Hanh followed by dharma discussion.

    • Third Monday - An evening of sitting, walking and guided meditation.

    • Fourth Monday - A reading from one of Zen Master Thích Nhât Hanh's many publications followed by dharma discussion.

    • Fifth Monday - Flower watering and hugging meditation.

    Recitation of the 14 Mindfulness Trainings with the Order of Interbeing Sangha - Every other week on Sunday morning. Contact us for details.

    We do not meet on New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday, Independence, Memorial or Labor Day, or Christmas.

    We have a variety of books, video, audio and periodicals to check-out to support your practice.

Traditional Vietnamese New Year celebration

Dear Bethany:

On behalf of the Vietnamese Buddhist Association of Kansas City, I would like to invite your and your friends to join us in attending our traditional Vietnamese New Year celebration on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.

After relocation our temple to its new location at 5090 NE Chouteau Trafficway, we have been working hard to convert an old church into a Vietnamese Buddhist worship center.  We are proud and excited to welcome you to our new location.
