Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, published in 1962, awakened the world to our interdependence with the natural world and the founding of the environmental movement. The film, written and performed by actress Kaiulani Lee, is described by Sierra magazine as:
Using many of Carson’s words, the film depicts the final year of her life. Struggling with breast cancer, Carson recounts with humor and anger, the attacks by the chemical industry, the government and the press as she focuses her limited energy to get her message to Congress and the American people. Carson embodies the Bodhisattva vow.
