Weekly Schedule

  • You are invited to join the Heartland Community of Mindful Living for evenings of mindfulness every Monday at Unity Temple on the Plaza, 707 W 47th Street, Kansas City, MO.

    Silent Meditation - every Monday, 7 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. in Classroom C. Please enter quietly if you arrive during the meditation period.

    Weekly Gatherings - every Monday, 7:45 p.m. - 9 p.m. in Classroom C. Our schedule rotates as follows:

    • First Monday - The Five Mindfulness Trainings Recitation Ceremony followed by a dharma discussion. All are welcome to enjoy this ritual affirming our practice of mindfulness.

    • Second Monday - Thây on Tape: a video or audio presentation by Zen Master Thích Nhât Hanh followed by dharma discussion.

    • Third Monday - An evening of sitting, walking and guided meditation.

    • Fourth Monday - A reading from one of Zen Master Thích Nhât Hanh's many publications followed by dharma discussion.

    • Fifth Monday - Flower watering and hugging meditation.

Shining of the Light - July 13th

531979_heart_of_glass[1] We are delighted that Christopher will soon be ordained to the Order of Interbeing.  Christopher has requested Shining of the Light practice from his Sangha.  Shining of the Light practice is a way to celebrate his upcoming ordination by expressing our love and appreciation for Christopher and his practice, as well as our aspirations and encouragement for his continuing practice.  It is a time to water his flower.

Christopher has blessed our Sangha.  He will be leaving us for graduate school in August.  Let's send him off joyfully.  The Shining of the Light ceremony will be held July 13th after our regular sitting and walking meditation.  Those who do not know Christopher are invited to support him during this ceremony with their mindfulness.
