About Rowan Conrad
Dharma Teacher Rowan Conrad received teacher transmission from Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh in 2004. Rowan was part of the lay delegation to Vietnam when Thay returned there for the first time since his exile in 1967. Rowan leads prison sanghas in Montana and Washington. Rowan trained professional counselors at the University of Montana until his retirement and still maintains a family and relationships counseling practice in Missoula, MT where he is a founding member of Open Way Sangha. A native Kansan, he frequents Kansas City to visit his grandchildren.
Here's what Open Way Sangha member Gina Garlie says about Rowan Conrad:
I admire Rowan's practice because it is grounded in caring for one another. He has high standards for himself in terms of integrity and showing up for the life in front of him. His unending message is that we are sangha and our relationships with one another are of utmost importance. Rowan has influenced me as a sangha builder by his willingness to always be available for the simple question about practice and the deep life questions that require a wise friend to listen and provide guidance. Rowan has influenced me as a practitioner by his patience for the person, the practice, and the witnessing of a life which will unfold or unravel regardless of how strong one thinks they have a grasp on the practice. What I like about him as a teacher is his willingness to support well being and happiness in one and all wherever they are in the practice or in life; he does this by generously listening and teaching from his experience and heart. You are all so fortunate to spending a day with Rowan. We will be with you in breathing and smiling.
